Details-
Vertical 5/8-inch post-tension all-thread rods will transfer roof forces down into foundations reinforced with horizontal #5 rebar.
Pouring concrete stemwall at 4.5-inch slump, and vibrating concrete
to drive out air and level surface.
Leveling concrete stemwall by puddling with wood float.
Partially stripped stemwall. Note 6-inch corner-forms at t-intersection.
Stripped stemwall with block-down for door-opening, and vertical conduit to bring UF electric cables from under floor up into wall.
Main electrical riser with naked copper U-fer ground bonded to 20-foot length of rebar in footing.
Stripped stemwall at south wall. For each 1,000 pounds of dirt, one 94-lb. bag of Portland cement is added.
Dry-mixing dirt with Portland cement. Adding water to dry-mix.
Tamping dirt. Tamper.

Dirt tamped to 4 feet. Note sloped top for water drainage in event of  rain during construction.

Set forms to 8 feet. Note: block-out puts water heater to outside of wall, eliminating need for vent-pipe through roof.
Bobcat pouring dirt into forms set to 8 feet high.
Removing wedge bolts.
4’x’4 form panel is rolled like a square wheel, (it’s 85 pounds!). Wire panel tie loop ends will be snapped off. Note; pre wired electrical boxes.
Installing 25” round cooler duct Double walled sono-tube is supported inside with plywood disks.

Bottom forms are removed, top forms are full and held in place by friction. Looking up at steel lintel over doorway.

Looking down at steel lintels before being filled with rammed earth.  Tying rebar with twisty tool.

Workshop student tying rebar in concrete bond beam above south window wall. Notice all threat post tensioning rod in PVC sleeve. Bond beam rebar and grey PVC electrical conduit.

On the left side of the block out is the space for the hidden ledger beam.  A ferule loop is used in place of an anchor bolt.
