University of Milwaukee students attend workshop.  
   
A workshop attendee from Colorado learns ho to install a base tie. Standard snap tie holds forms together against outward pressure.
   
Installing lower waler. Double waler, turnbuckle form brace, tamper with pneumatic hoses, multiple hose adapter with oil pod.
   
 Students tamping. Pneumatic tamper in action. Snap ties are 2’ apart.
   
 Everybody gets a chance to tamp.  A student gets instruction from Quentin.
   
 Forms are 2’ wide x 4’ tall or 2’ wide x 6’ tall. Forms follow grade by stepping up 6’” at a time. The patio wall is designed to follow the shape of the mountain in the distance.
   
 Bending rebar for the foundations.
Tool bends and cuts rebar.
   
Corners are bent to provide 40 diameter lap at ends of rebar. Foundations have 3 #4 rebar continuous.
   
 Students cut rebar. Foundations do not slope but are dug flat to stair step up the hill.
   
   Cleaning the trenches.
   
   Putting in a cross tie .
   
 Cross ties are 4’ on center.  Vertical dowels, double row 4’ on center.
   
Earth testing cylinders and drop hammer. Student makes an earth cylinder to be tested in the lab.
Guest bathroom/laundry room wall footings. Stem walls poured to 2’ below finished floor.
Plumbing for toilet which flows to the septic tank Shower sink and laundry grey water is separate.
